Oh how I LOVE Augusta. How I yearn to take my children there and have them build the memories that I built in such a beautiful country town.
Growing up, it would be a regular holiday destination. Staying in a caravan or Chalet at the Molloy Island Caravan Park, sitting on Poppa's boat waiting for everyone else to stop fishing (oh how I HATED fishing), my brother poking the fishes eyes out, loving the trip home from fishing as freezing I would sit on the front of the boat and feel the cold crisp air hitting my face & the spray from the Blackwood River wetting my raincoat, Grandma teaching us a new card game and then playing it with us a MILLION times, the newsagency and my need to purchase new stationery items, the bakery - how GOOD is the bakery!
What memories are built from family holidays. They are memories that came flooding back as I wandered around this picturesque town. Although it has changed.. so many things remain the same (have I mentioned the bakery??).
Do me a favour.. just a little itty bitty favour..
If you are ever in Margaret River, Yallingup, Dunsborough.. take the extra time out of your day to head a little further south to this little fishing village.. and throw in a line..
Might just see you there.
Happy Days
